2 years agoWashington Capitals defenseman John Carlson wasn't able to complete Friday's matchup against Winnipeg, leaving the contest in the third period after taking a slap shot to the face. He was taken to the hospital, but luckily only for precautionary reasons. Carlson finished with 16:12 of ice time and posted two shots and one block with a plus-one rating. The star defenseman has done a lot of work in every corner of the ice this season, piling up 21 points in 30 games with 101 shots, 34 hits and 70 blocks. It remains to be seen if he recovers in time for the next game which comes on Dec. 27 against the Rangers.
