Joey Loperfido Sent To Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired first baseman/outfielder Joey Loperfido from the Houston Astros on Monday as part of the deal that sent left-handed starter Yusei Kikuchi to the Astros, according to sources. In addition to Loperfido, the Astros shipped right-hander Jake Bloss and infielder Will Wagner, the son of former Houston great Billy Wagner, to Toronto. The 25-year-old Loperfido made his MLB debut earlier this year and has mostly struggled, batting .236/.299/.358 with a weak .658 OPS, two homers, five doubles, a triple, 16 RBI, two steals, seven walks and 43 K's in 118 plate appearances over 38 games. Loperfido's defensive versatility and above-average power-speed combination make him worth rostering in deep-mixed leagues, especially now that he's moving to a hitter-friendly ballpark in Toronto.
