Joey Logano was a fixture at the front of the field throughout the GEICO 500 on Monday at Talladega Superspeedway but was unable to turn it into a strong finish. Logano led the field for 66 laps throughout the afternoon and earned a 101.4 driver rating for his efforts. Unfortunately, fuel-shortage issues forced the No. 22 team to slow down in order to conserve gas and ultimately had to pit with six laps to go in the race. Unable to make it back to the front, Logano's finish of 17th was a poor conclusion to an otherwise strong day. Logano and his crew should be expected to bounce back for a better day when the Cup Series returns to Talladega Superspeedway in October.--Ryan Devine
