St. Louis Blues goaltender Joel Hofer will guard the cage Friday against Washington, with Jordan Binnington suspended for two games. Binnington lost his cool in Wednesday's matchup against Minnesota and has been suspended for two games for roughing and unsportsmanlike conduct. Hofer will make his first appearance of the season and will play in only his third career game. The 22-year-old has put together a strong 22-14-4 record in the AHL this season with a 2.50 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage. Hofer has been doing well, but the Blues are a struggling team and Washington has a decent scoring record with a 3.10 goals-for average, so this is a tough matchup for the young goalie.--Taavi Pailk
