3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (calf) has officially been ruled out for Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals. Rookie quarterback Trey Lance will make his first NFL start against the division rivals. Garoppolo missed practice all week and could be in danger of missing Week 6 as well. Lance tossed two touchdowns in relief of Garoppolo in the Week 4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and could take the job from Jimmy G if he performs well this weekend. In four games, Garoppolo has thrown for 925 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions while also running for a score. Lance will have his ups and downs, but he'll have high-end QB2 upside in a game where the Niners may be forced to air it out.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
