Jeff Petry Registers Pair Of Assists On Tuesday
6 years agoMontreal Canadiens defenseman Jeff Petry picked up two assists (including one on the power play) as his team lost 5-3 to the New York Rangers on Tuesday night. With Shea Weber set to miss at least the first two months of the season, Petry has filled in admirably as the Canadiens top defenseman. In his first 15 games to start the campaign, the 30-year-old ranks in the top ten in defensemen scoring with 12 points (one goal, 11 assists) while playing a career-high 24:18 per game. Additionally, Petry is a solid contributor in peripheral categories as displayed by his five power-play points, 25 shots, 25 blocks and 40 hits. Fantasy owners that were able to scoop him up late in drafts have been rewarded early on by his play and should look to keep him in lineups when the Canadiens take on the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.
