Jared Goff Gets Help Over The Middle
5 years agoLos Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is facing a big year in 2020, but the team will be trying to help him out in his quest to get back to a higher level. Goff caught a lot of flak in 2019 when his TD/INT ratio dropped from 32/12 in 2018 to 22/16 in 2019. His passer rating fell nearly 15 points from where it had been for the previous two years, and to further complicate matters, he lost Todd Gurley and Brandin Cooks over the offseason. LA has armed him with some shorter-range tools though. The Rams added running back Cam Akers, Van Jefferson, and a pair of tight ends that should help give Goff more intermediate-depth receivers as opposed to home run hitters like Cooks. They're showing a commitment to working with Goff, and hopefully, this change in approach can help Goff get his numbers back up to where they can be.
