James McCann Is A Player To Avoid For 2018
7 years agoDetroit Tigers catcher James McCann has always been known more for his defense than his offense, and for that reason he's a player to avoid in your upcoming fantasy drafts. McCann offers very little power (13 HR and 49 RBI last season) and has hit for a pedestrian .247 lifetime average. McCann did see a significant uptick in his hard contact last season, a career-high 38.2%, but it wasn't enough to make a major impact on his overall fantasy production. The only reason to use McCann is for his proclivity to mash against lefties: he hit southpaws at a .298 clip last year, which at least makes him worth a look in daily leagues every once in a while. But for those of you in more traditional leagues, don't waste a draft pick on McCann.
