Jakob Junis Struggles Against Astros
6 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Jakob Junis labored through 5 1/3 tough innings against the Astros on Monday before he was lifted from the game. Houston scored in four of the six innings in which Junis took the hill, and he allowed three home runs in the game. There was some early hype that Junis had some qualities that made him a possible sleeper this season, but it looks like he's settled into who he is for now. A below-average strikeout rate combined with tantalizing pitches that get regularly knocked out of the yard means Junis is likely going to carry a high-4.00 ERA for most of his days. He may string together a couple nice starts here and there, but an owner would need to be pretty desperate to be banking on those. He'll catch the Phillies in KC this weekend and he shouldn't be started for that game.
