Jakob Junis Shelled Again
6 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Jakob Junis continued to labor through the 2019 season as he was hit hard by the Yankees in a loss on Friday night. Junis gave up four earned runs in 5 1/2 innings while allowing six hits and two walks. Junis also only struck out two batters, his smallest single-game total this season. Junis has yet to allow less than three earned runs in a start this season, and this made his third straight start where he gave up four or more. The 26-year-old righty has been getting somewhat unlucky, as evidenced by his inflated BABIP of .354 and poor LOB % of just 63.9%, so there's some hope possibly on the horizon. However, he'll need to keep his strikeout rate up and minimize the home runs to stand a chance at actually reaching his sub-4.00 xFIP.
