1 year agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake Gardiner (back) missed Sunday's 4-2 loss against the Arizona Coyotes due to back spasms. He is considered day to day. With Gardiner on the shelf it was Travis Dermott sliding into a top-four rearguard job alongside Nikita Zaitsev, while Martin Marincin drew into the lineup for the first time since Dec. 22. If you normally depend upon Gardiner, who has two goals and 24 points with a plus-17 rating through 47 games, reserve him in fantasy pools until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.--Daniel E.
