Jaguars Aren't A True 3-4 Defense
4 years agoJacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Todd Wash pumped the brakes on the team transitioning from a 4-3 defensive scheme to a 3-4 scheme this year. "We're not a true 3-4 or two-gap team," Wash said recently. "That's not how we're built up front – or the size of our unit – to do that." Versatility from the likes of Josh Allen, Yannick Ngakoue, Cassius Marsh, Aaron Lynch and K'Lavon Chaisson -- those who can play linebacker and defensive end -- will determine the team's scheme more than anything this year. It sounds like Wash wants a combination of the two different schemes in order to confuse opposing offenses. Jacksonville has been more of a one-gap defense in recent seasons, and that won't change significantly. Losing Calais Campbell in the trenches will hurt, but Jacksonville has the defensive personnel to withstand his loss. From a fantasy perspective, the Jaguars Defense can be left to the waiver wire to begin the season.
