Jacob deGrom Looks To Continue Ridiculous Streak
7 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom has been one of the best pitchers in baseball in 2018, but on Friday he arguably faces his toughest task yet. deGrom and the Mets take on the crosstown-rival New York Yankees at Citi Field in a matchup where fantasy owners are praying the bullpen doesn’t blow yet another possible win for the potential National League Cy Young candidate. With a league-leading .803 team OPS, the Yankees will be a difficult matchup no matter who the opposing pitcher is. However, it would seem if there’s any pitcher that could tame the beast, it’s deGrom. deGrom hasn’t allowed more than one run in any of his last eight starts, yet amazingly has only one win to show for it due to the bullpen blowing it in just about every one of those outings. For the season, he owns a ridiculously amazing 1.49 ERA with 98 strikeouts in 72 1/3 innings pitched. If he can continue his streak of allowing one run or less in this one, it would be mighty impressive. You’re firing up deGrom regardless of the matchup.
