Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin is poised to sign an extension with the team this offseason. Per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Hurricanes are working on a long-term deal with Slavin. He will be wrapping up a seven-year, $37.1 million contract in 2024-25. Slavin, who turned 30 on May 1, should secure himself another good deal after becoming a key cog for the Hurricanes. He led the blue line with a plus-21 rating this season and had a team-high 120 hits while recording 37 points (six goals, 31 assists) in 81 appearances.

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin (lower body) will return to the lineup against the Rangers on Saturday night. The 28-year-old missed six consecutive games with a lower-body injury that he sustained against the Wild on Jan. 19. Slavin has produced three goals and 12 assists on the season and carries limited offensive upside compared to teammates Brent Burns and Brady Skjei on the defensive end.

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin (lower body) will miss a fourth consecutive game Sunday versus Boston. Following Saturday's practice, Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour noted that Slavin "skated well", but it looks like he still needs to put in some more work before he is game-ready again. Slavin has notched 15 points in 45 games this season with 74 shots on goal, 27 hits and 72 blocks. He's been a major piece of the defensive corps, averaging 22:26 of ice time, but the team has to do without him for a bit longer. Dylan Coghlan has come into the team in Slavin's absence, while Jalen Chatfield has moved up in the lineup to partner Brent Burns on the first defensive pairing.

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin helped to set up two goals Sunday when the team suffered a painful 4-3 shootout loss against Vancouver. The Hurricanes were 3-2 up heading into the final couple of minutes when Slavin had helped Jordan Martinook and Sebastian Aho to score, but the Canucks tied the game with just 17 seconds left in regulation and the team had to settle for just one point. Slavin doesn't generally contribute regularly on offense, but he has now recorded two multi-point efforts in three games. He has managed three goals and 12 assists in total across 44 outings with 74 shots, 26 hits and 69 blocks.
