Ja Morant Narrowly Misses A 30-Point Triple-Double
2 years agoMemphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant was very close to his fifth career triple-double in Monday's loss to Boston, ending up with 30 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. He also picked up a pair of steals and had one block with four turnovers in 35 minutes. Morant hit five of his 12 attempts from deep and shot 10-for-24 overall from the field. The Grizzlies star had a breakout campaign last season, and he is set for another big year in 2022-23, averaging 28 points so far with 5.4 rebounds and 6.9 assists. He will find himself in a really nice matchup next, as Memphis faces the Spurs, who are one of only two teams in the league to give up 22-plus points and 10-plus assists per 48 minutes to the point guard position this season. Additionally, only seven teams have allowed point guards to get more points than San Antonio.
