Ito Smith 2020 Outlook: Always The Bridesmaid
5 years agoAtlanta Falcons running back Ito Smith will begin another season playing second fiddle. After serving as the backup for Devonta Freeman for his first two years in the league, The Judge will now be tasked with playing behind former Ram Todd Gurley II. The 24-year-old appeared in only seven games last season before missing the remainder of 2019 due to concussion. In those appearances, he rushed the ball a total of 22 times, racking up a meager 106 yards and just one touchdown. While he could have some value if Gurley misses time, which could happen considering his ailing knee, he will then have to battle both Brian Hill and Qadree Ollison for touches. As a result, he is semi-undraftable in all formats, with the potential for value in 2020 occurring only if he gets a start throughout the year, making him a handcuff pick--at best.
