Is Chase Elliott A Core Play In Sunday's Coca-Cola 600?
7 months agoAfter winning the Xfinity Series race on Saturday afternoon, Chase Elliott went on to qualify fifth for the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. With five top-five finishes over the last seven races, and as one of the favorites to win the Cup championship in 2024, there is a lot to be excited about when it comes to Chase Elliott on Sunday night. While some may be hesitant to load up on the second-generation Cup star given that he hasn't even made it to the halfway point in each of the last two races here, these results do not show just how good he has been at this track throughout his career. Prior to his two recent DNFs, between 2017-2021, the Hendrick Motorsports star earned a victory, had five top-five finishes, and finished each race with positive place differential. These are results that cannot be ignored despite his recent struggles in this crown jewel event. What makes the former Cup Series champion of further interest is the fact that his one win over the last two seasons came earlier this year at Texas, a track similar to Charlotte Motor Speedway. Between how strong he has looked over the last two months and given his overall history at Charlotte, the No. 9 looks like a core play in DFS and in sports betting as DraftKings Sportsbook lists him at +850 to win, which are incredible odds for an incredible driver.
