Ilya Samsonov Nabs Show Me Contract for One Year in Washington
3 years agoIlya Samsonov had a trying season in Washington last year with COVID. The Washington Capitals gave him one more chance on Monday. His contract is for a season at $2 million. Samsonov did have 13 wins in 19 appearances but had just a .902 save percentage despite posting two shutouts. The Russian goaltender is just 24 but this one-year bridge deal represents an opportunity for both him and the team. Keep in mind, Vitek Vanecek is back after being traded back to the Washington Capitals. Samsonov will have to earn the starting job but has fantasy upside given how good of a regular-season team Washington can be.
