Ilya Samsonov Keeps Kings At Bay
2 years agoToronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov stopped all 29 shots he faced in Thursday's tilt against the Kings, recording his first shutout of the year in a 5-0 win. This was a very impressive performance against a team that has been scoring goals for fun and whose season had included only five games with one or zero goals. Samsonov recently had to sit out some time with injury, but he is looking like one of the signings of the season, with the former Capital putting together an 8-2-0 record with his first 10 games as a member of the Maple Leafs and registering a 1.87 goals-against average with a .933 save percentage. With Matt Murray also enjoying great form, Toronto has posted a .921 team save percentage for the season, which is bettered by only three teams.
