Hernan Perez Is A Super Utility Player
7 years agoHernan Perez provides power and speed but has no position. He does not currently have the qualities to be an on-base percentage asset either. Perez has a very poor base on balls percentage (4.4%) and an equally low OBP of .289. At times he has demonstrated speed beneficial for that aspect of the game. Last season Perez stole 13 bases, which is 21 fewer stolen bases than the year prior in 28 fewer plate appearances. Perez also hit for a .259 average, but the major issue was his average against right-handed pitchers (.239) was drastically lower than against left-handers (.316). Perez did hit for some power; he hit 14 home runs, 12 of which came against right-handers. Perez will have eligibility at second base, shortstop, third base, and outfield. Unfortunately, there are so many outfield eligible players on the roster that the primary way for Perez to see playing time will be in the infield. Perez should only be drafted in deep leagues. If he wins a starting job out of spring training, his value will increase quite a bit.
