Hector Neris Records Save No. 12
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Hector Neris recorded the final five outs Wednesday to earn his twelfth save of the season. Neris allowed a walk and struck out two for his second save in as many days. Before the season, Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said he would play the matchups late but he seems to be using Neris as a traditional closer. Neris has a dominant 18.7 percent swinging strike rate and is inducing over 25 percent soft contact. He might not get every save, but he's clearly the go-to guy in that bullpen and should contribute in WHIP and ERA as well. He's must-own in any league where saves are a category.
