The Cleveland Guardians selected James Madison outfielder Chase DeLauter with the 16th overall pick in the 2022 MLB draft on Sunday. The 20-year-old became the first player from James Madison University to be selected in the first round. DeLauter's power really stands out, and he had 15 home runs in 66 games during his three-year stint at James Madison. "I think what stands out is his ability to leverage the ball," director of amateur scouting Scott Barnsby said. "I think some of the things that stand out to our group are his pitch recognition, his strike-zone awareness, and so not only does he have really good bat-to-ball, but he can impact the ball to all fields.
