1/3:As reported by Adam Schefter, members of the Green Bay Packers coaching staff, offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett and quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt, are out in Green Bay. Bennett served as offensive coordinator and had previously held several position coach positions. Head coach Mike McCarthy was seemingly grooming him to be a future head coaching candidate. There was some speculation that Green Bay might look to demote him back to wide receivers coach, but that does not appear to be the case. McCarthy largely runs the offense, so losing Bennett doesn’t affect much of anything. Van Pelt was the quarterbacks coach in 2017 and a favorite of Aaron Rodgers. Not much of an explanation was given as to why they were let go, but it appears that McCarthy is trying to make room for a new offensive coordinator to take a larger control of the offense. Former Giants head coach Ben McAdoo’s name has been tossed around as a potential candidate. A McAdoo hiring would not be positive news for Green Bay, as he runs the same uncreative and ineffective scheme that McCarthy does. McAdoo was let go in New York largely due to his failures running the offense. Regardless, there is potential in Green Bay for some large-scale changes to the offensive side of the ball in 2018.--Tyger McGuiggan - RotoBaller
