Gordon Hayward's Recent Streak Of Excellent Play Comes To An End Versus 76ers
5 years agoIt was evident that players on the Celtics needed to step up in Kemba Walker's absence against the Philadelphia 76ers Saturday. However, Boston did not receive much production from small forward Gordon Hayward. Instead, it was young stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum who rose to the occasion. Hayward played 35 minutes and only scored four points as he converted on just one of his 11 shot attempts. The former Butler standout scored 20 points or more in the four outings before the matchup with Philly, his longest streak as a Celtic. It was simply not Hayward's night, and he was not forcing the issue by any means as his shots were not falling. Expect the 29-year-old to have a bounce-back game Monday against the Atlanta Hawks, who give up the second-most points per game in the NBA.
