Giants Sign First-Rounder Patrick Bailey
4 years agoThe San Francisco Giants signed first-round catcher Patrick Bailey (13th overall) for $3.8 million on Wednesday. Bailey's deal is just under the slot value of $4.197 million for the 13th overall selection in the draft. The catcher from North Carolina State was the top catching prospect in this year's draft. He has solid power from both sides of the plate as a switch-hitter and also has a solid arm and is a capable receiver. Bailey will be added to San Francisco's 60-player pool for the upcoming season, but he's a long shot to see major league action in 2020. If you're looking for a Giants catching prospect to potentially make his debut this year, it would be Joey Bart, the team's top prospect.
