Giancarlo Stanton Could Go On Rehab Assignment This Weekend
2 years agoNew York Yankees outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) will have tests done on Thursday, and he could begin a minor-league rehab assignment this weekend. Manager Aaron Boone expects Stanton to play some outfield on his rehab assignment. Whenever the 33-year-old right-handed slugger returns, he'll play some outfield while also continuing DH duties for the Yanks. The oft-injured outfielder hasn't played since mid-April due to a strained left hamstring, but there's a chance he'll be reinstated from the injured list at some point next week. While injury-prone, Stanton offers elite power in a strong lineup. He was hitting .269 (14-for-52) with three doubles, four home runs and 11 RBI through 13 games at the time of his injury.
