George Springer Absent Against Rangers
George Springer is not in the team's starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. Nathan Lukes will start in left field for the Jays and hit ninth against Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom, while first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is serving as the designated hitter and batting second. Springer has been a solid contributor for fantasy managers and Toronto in 2025, but he could use a mental break while struggling at the plate recently. The 35-year-old veteran has gone 2-for-29 (.069) with a double, stolen base, two runs scored and seven strikeouts in 10 games since May 15. Springer should be back in action on Tuesday in Texas as he looks to break his current slump. Lukes has never faced deGrom in his career, while Guerrero has a hit and an RBI in just three career at-bats.
