Gavin Sheets Injured On Wednesday
6 months agoChicago White Sox outfielder Gavin Sheets (heel) left Wednesday night's shutout loss to the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers early with a jammed left heel. Sheets is being further evaluated. Before leaving the game prematurely, Sheets went 1-for-2 with a double. He was replaced in right field by Corey Julks. Even if Sheets' injury isn't serious and he's day-to-day, there's a good chance he won't be in the starting lineup for Thursday's contest against the visiting Atlanta Braves. The 28-year-old outfielder had been hot entering Wednesday's series finale against the Dodgers, going 8-for-22 (.364) with two doubles and a run scored in his last six games to raise his season line to .241/.336/.405 with seven long balls, 28 RBI and 22 runs scored in 237 at-bats for the Pale Hose. UPDATE: X-rays came back negative on Sheets, and he's considered day-to-day with a bruised heel.
