Garrett Hampson Steals First MLB Base
6 years agoColorado Rockies second baseman Garrett Hampson was brought up to fill in for the injured DJ LeMahieu, and so far, he's been everything the team hoped he would be. Predicted to be a strong batting average play with light power, some speed, and an advanced batting eye, Hampson has fit that prediction to a T. He's hitting .300, he's smacked a pair of extra-base hits, he's stolen a base, and he's got a 4/5 BB/K ratio so far in just 20 major league at-bats. It's obviously early, but it's certainly looking like Hampson could be 2019's replacement for LeMahieu if the team were to let him walk at the end of the season.
