Frank Gore Jr. Takes Home MVP Honors In Shrine Bowl
11 months agoSouthern Mississippi running back Frank Gore Jr., the son of former NFL RB Frank Gore, won MVP honors in the East-West Shrine Bowl in Texas on Thursday, racking up 87 rushing yards and a touchdown. Gore Jr. stands at only 5-foot-7, 199 pounds, but he's a smart runner between the tackles who plays low to the ground and creates more yards after the catch than his frame would suggest. He's not as athletic as his father, but he had more than 4,000 career yards in college and should come off the board on Day 3 of this year's NFL draft. In addition to Gore Jr., South Dakota State receivers Jadon and Jaxon Janke had good weeks during practices, and Jadon had a 52-yard catch in the Shrine Bowl from Taulia Tagovailoa. Memphis RB Blake Watson also impressed, finishing with six catches for 65 yards.
