Francisco Mejia Could Help Fantasy Owners In 2018
7 years agoCleveland Indians catcher Francisco Mejia remains the consensus top catcher by most prospect rankings. Mejia has always shown good plate discipline and an ability to hit the ball. He isn't a big power hitter, but should be able to do enough to help fantasy owners when he becomes the Indians everyday catcher. Mejia's biggest flaw is his defense, which is why the Indians have tried him out at both third base and second base. For now he will be eligible at catcher, but be aware that he may gain flexibility at second and third base. Mejia got his first taste of the big leagues in 2017 but was limited to 13 at-bats over that time. Mejia is still behind Roberto Perez and Yan Gomes, but his ability to play other positions could lead to more playing time. He is worth keeping an eye on in all leagues and being a catcher makes him attractive enough to roster once he gets everyday at-bats.
