Ethan Small Strikes Out 11 At Double-A
4 years agoMilwaukee Brewers pitching prospect Ethan Small was dominant once again on Tuesday. The 24-year-old lefty struck out 11 batters and allowed just one hit through five innings of work. His control wasn't perfect, though, and he walked four batters. The southpaw now has a 40% strikeout rate through five starts this season. Small is not a flamethrower and he works mostly 88-92 mph but he has above-average movement on his heater which helps the pitch play up. Once he starts throwing more strikes (18% walk rate), he'll likely move up to be challenged at the Triple-A level. Milwaukee is currently receiving strong performances from members of its starting staff but this former first-round pick could soon make things interesting as he pushes for a major league job.
