2 years agoBoston Red Sox first baseman Eric Hosmer (back) hasn't given up hope of playing again this season. Skipper Alex Cora said Hosmer might resume baseball activities on Tuesday. It will be a matter of how Hosmer responds to increased activities and if there is enough time for him to ramp back up by the end of the 2022 season. The 32-year-old left-handed hitter hasn't played since Aug. 20 due to lower back inflammation. In his 12 games with the Red Sox since being acquired from the San Diego Padres at the Aug. 2 trade deadline, Hosmer has hit just .225/.311/.300 with no home runs, four RBI and six runs scored in 45 plate appearances. The Red Sox have been using a platoon of Christian Arroyo and Triston Casas at first base recently.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
