Eric Decker Announces Retirement
6 years agoNew England Patriots wide receiver Eric Decker announced his retirement on Instagram on Sunday. Decker was signed by the Patriots during training camp but failed to produce and saw the writing on the wall before final cuts. The veteran caught just two of seven targets for 12 yards in the last two preseason contests against the Eagles and Panthers. Decker was battling Braxton Berrios, Riley McCarron and Paul Turner for the final spot. Decker will finish his eight-year career with 5,816 yards and 53 touchdowns on 439 catches. With Julian Edelman suspended for the first four games, Phillip Dorsett is likely to benefit the most out of the slot to open the season. He's worth a late-round stab in deeper leagues.
