Elijah Moore, 2022 Outlook: In Need Of Improved Quarterback Play
3 years agoElijah Moore entered the league in 2021 with enticing skills that provided a path toward a prolific career. His numbers were unexceptional from Weeks 1-7 (5.2 targets/1.8 receptions/15.8 yards per game), while he also attained a percentage of 20.8% targets per route run, and averaged only 0.63 yards per route run. However, Moore's usage and output soared in Weeks 11-13, as he averaged 10.3 targets, 6.0 receptions, and 88 yards per game. That propelled him to WR4, while he led the league with a 51.8% share of air yards and ascended to third overall in target share (33%), and air yards (352). His targets per route run also rose to 32.3%, while he averaged 2.75 yards per route run. He was sidelined from Weeks 14-18 (quad) but still led the Jets in targets, receiving yards receiving yards, air yards, and touchdowns New York’s depth chart at wide receiver has been modified during the offseason, as Jamison Crowder departed for Buffalo, and Garrett Wilson was selected 10th overall in April's NFL Draft. Corey Davis and Braxton Berrios also remain in the equation, but Moore has the talent to operate as a highly productive weapon despite the competition for targets. He could also fulfill the expectations of his ADPs in best ball drafts (79/WR32), and dynasty startup leagues (50/WR24). His prospects for accomplishing that are dependent on significant improvement from Zach Wilson, who registered the league's highest percentage of bad throws (23.8%) and was an alarming 33rd in completion percentage (55.6%).
