Eduardo Rodriguez Gets Shelled Tuesday
6 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez was able to last just five innings after allowing six runs, on six hits, while fanning five, and walking three in Tuesday's 10-3 loss to Toronto. It was relatively smooth sailing for Rodriguez, through the first three innings, allowing just one hit, and one walk. Along came the fourth inning, when he let up a two-run and solo home run, followed by the fifth inning when a he served up a three-run shot to put the Blue Jays up 6-0, effectively ending the southpaw's day. After not allowing a home run in any of his previous five outings, the 26-year-old let up three in two innings Tuesday, and he now has a 13 HR/FB %. A 3.67 FIP hints that the 5.43 ERA is due for some positive regression, so it's possible he's pitching better than his last two outings show. He has given a glimpse of his ability this year, but after these past two performances, he is a hold going into a Sunday matchup with the Houston Astros.
