Dylan Floro 2023 Player Outlook: Potential Source Of Saves In Miami
2 years agoMiami Marlins relief pitcher Dylan Floro has logged at least 10 saves in each of his two seasons with the team and could be in for more save opportunities this coming season. That's not to say that the veteran will be the only ninth-inning option for Skip Schumaker's club, but he's certainly been one of the team's more effective options. Floro pitched to a 3.02 ERA and a 3.13 FIP in 53.2 innings spanning 56 appearances for the National League East franchise this past year. He also added 10 saves and five holds. And while his 10 saves were second on the team to Tanner Scott's 20 for the entire season, both pitchers finished with eight converted saves apiece in the second half. Miami likely won't have a set closer next year, not with Floro and Scott on the roster, not to mention the arrival of trade acquisition Matt Barnes via the Boston Red Sox. Still, Floro looks like a decent bet to once again reach double-digit saves with the potential to emerge as Miami's full-time closer at some point if Scott struggles with walks again. The left-hander did walk 6.61 batters per nine frames last year and has walked 5.84 batters per nine innings in his Major League career.
