Dylan Bundy 2021 Player Outlook: Still a Nice Value
4 years agoEntering the 2020 season, there was plenty of unknown regarding Bundy, as he was moving from Baltimore to Anaheim. Those who believed that the change would be a boon for him profited handsomely, as Bundy was being drafted as 79th pitcher and 245th overall player. He finished the season as the 20th best pitcher, as the strikeout rate increased while the walk and home run rates plummeted. Some of the changes can be attributed to the new division and ballparks, but Bundy also tweaked his repertoire, throwing fewer fastballs and more offspeed pitches. Coming into the 2021 season, Bundy's ADP is now 110 overall and the 40th pitcher off the board. Some regression could be in order, as the BABIP was .272 last season but a strikeout rate around 25% with a walk rate around 7% should be viable with 170 plus innings pitched. The RotoBaller rankings have Bundy as the 30th pitcher, so you're still getting a discount, although not as much as last year.
