Drew Smith Receives 10-Game Suspension
2 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Drew Smith has received a 10-game suspension following his ejection from Tuesday's game against the New York Yankees. The umpires checked Smith and he was thrown out for the use of an illegal foreign substance. He will not appeal the suspension and has also been fined an undisclosed amount. He'll begin serving his 10-game suspension on Wednesday and the Mets are unable to replace him on the active roster. Smith has posted a 4.18 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 28 strikeouts across 23.2 innings of work this season.
