4 years agoLos Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty recorded a power-play goal as his team came up short 3-2 to the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday. In addition to his second-period tally, Doughty filled the scoresheet with a plus-one rating, four shots on goal, two penalty minutes and two blocks in 27:09 of ice time in the contest. After posting his lowest point total (35) in six seasons in 2019-2020, Doughty has exploded out of the gates this season and currently sits sixth in the NHL in defenseman scoring with 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) through 21 games. Considering his cross-category production (plus-one rating, 11 power-play points, 38 shots, 29 hits), the two-time Cup winner should be valued as a top-two fantasy rearguard the rest of the way.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller

1 month agoLos Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty (lower body) will rejoin the lineup for Friday's road game against the Dallas Stars. Doughty, whose season debut was delayed until late January due to a broken ankle, missed Wednesday's clash against the Vancouver Canucks with a lower-body injury. On Friday, Doughty noted that he will have to "manage" his current injury for the rest of the campaign. This likely means that he will sit out further action down the road. The former Norris Trophy winner has made eight appearances with the Kings this season, logging four points (one goal, three assists), 15 shots, 13 blocks, and 11 hits, along with a plus-four rating.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 months agoLos Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty has been named to Canada's roster for the 4 Nations Face-Off. He will replace Alex Pietrangelo of the Vegas Golden Knights, who withdrew from the tournament on Jan. 28. Doughty broke his left ankle against the Golden Knights in a preseason game and only recently made his season debut with the Kings. The 35-year-old has amassed one assist, 11 shots, nine blocks, and seven hits across six appearances, averaging 26:57 of ice time. Doughty has won two Olympic gold medals and the 2016 World Cup of Hockey with Team Canada.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 months agoLos Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty (ankle) will make his first appearance of the season in Wednesday's matchup against the Florida Panthers. Doughty's season debut has been delayed due to a broken ankle. Last season, Doughy averaged nearly 26 minutes of ice time, but the team will likely ease him back into action, limiting his fantasy value in the short term. He is set to skate with Jacob Moverare and will join the first power-play unit. Brandt Clarke, who leads the Kings blue-liners with 24 points this season, appears to be heading to the press box on Wednesday to accommodate Doughty's return to the lineup.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

2 months agoAccording to Zach Dooley, Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty (ankle) is continuing to progress in his recovery process. Dooley noted that head coach Jim Hiller said, "The hard work is starting to pay off. He sees the finish line," concerning Doughty's progress. The 35-year-old has not been on the ice all season after undergoing ankle surgery in early October. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress, as he would likely return to his typical starting role when cleared. Last season across 82 games, the two-time Stanley Cup Champion tallied 50 points (15 goals, 35 helpers) with 142 blocks and 102 hits. His 15 goals were just one fewer than the career-high he tallied in 2009. Doughty is still worth stashing on an Injured Reserve spot on your roster, as he should be a solid fantasy contributor during the back half of the season.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
