Doug Baldwin 2019 Outlook: A Hawk Clips His Wings
6 years agoFormer Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin is currently a free agent and while he hasn't officially retired, a series of posts on his social media accounts have all but proven that he's played his last snap in the NFL. Since Baldwin was released from his Seahawks contract with an injury designation, he would be giving up possible insurance money if he officially filed retirement papers with the league. Instead, he will remain a free agent until everything is settled and will only then file the official paperwork with everyone's favorite sports commissioner. Until then, Baldwin is eligible for injury protection payments calculated based on a percentage of his 2019 and 2020 salaries. What it boils down to is this: Doug Baldwin has played in his final NFL game, but he hasn't retired. He shouldn't be drafted in any formats this season.
