Dodgers Expected To Use Six-Man Rotation In 2025
1 month agoLos Angeles Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes stated on Wednesday that the team will likely go with a six-man rotation next season. It would include RHPs Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Tony Gonsolin, and Dustin May along with LHP Clayton Kershaw. The added sixth pitcher would be superstar Shohei Ohtani. Gonsolin and May are both coming off of injuries that kept them out of 2024, and Kershaw may not be available to begin the season, so Bobby Miller could be another option until he's ready. Miller started 13 games in 2024 for the reigning World Series champs, although the stats were not great, and Jack Flaherty will not be an option as he is expected to sign elsewhere in free agency. Listing Ohtani as a position player rather than a pitcher could give L.A. the ability to carry 14 pitchers, the same amount they used this season even though Ohtani didn't pitch. It will be interesting to see how Ohtani performs as a pitcher after a season off and if it diminishes his effectiveness as a hitter in any way.
