DJ LeMahieu Slumping Into All-Star Break
6 years agoColorado Rockies leadoff man DJ LeMahieu has had a surprising first half of the season. Coming into the year, he was known as a light contact hitter who specialized in batting average (having won a batting title in 2016 and hitting over .300 for three straight years) and basically nothing else. Instead, he's thrown everyone off by smacking eight homers and stealing four bases while batting just .269. Now, his average is slipping even further as he's rolling around in an extensive slump that somehow includes a hit streak. Since June 29, LeMahieu is hitting .205 with an on-base percentage of just .217. However, the vast majority of those hits came during a small six-game hit streak at the start of July. With a team as dependent on offense as Colorado, LeMahieu could see himself bumped down in the order if he doesn't come out of the funk soon.
