1 year agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks selected Stanford infielder Tommy Troy with the 12th selection in the 2023 MLB draft. Troy becomes the first Stanford player drafted in the first round since Nico Hoerner and Kris Bubic were both selected in the 2018 first round. Troy posted a balanced line in 2023, with a .394/.478/.699 slash line. He hit 17 home runs and also had 17 doubles and stole 17 bases in 58 games in 2023 for the Cardinal. Troy was a shortstop in college, but he can play around the infield and may settle eventually at second base.--Benjamin Chase
