DeVonta Smith Carves Up Vikings Defense For 131 Yards
1 year agoPhiladelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith caught 4-of-5 targets for 131 yards and one touchdown during the team's 34-28 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The former Heisman winner started the game strong with an impressive 54-yard catch over top of a defender on the team's first offensive drive. Smith capped off the night with a 63-yard touchdown where he torched the cornerback and trotted into the end zone with ease. The 24-year-old ended the 2022 season on a high note, and he has continued to have success to start 2023 after scoring in each of the first two games of the year. Teammate A.J. Brown seemed to voice his frustrations to the team on the sideline about wanting to be more involved, but it should not affect Smith heading into Philadelphia's Week 3 matchup against Tampa Bay. He should be considered a borderline WR1 in that matchup.
