Devin Sweet Clears Waivers, Outrighted To Triple-A
10 months agoDetroit Tigers relief pitcher Devin Sweet has cleared waivers and has been outrighted off the 40-man roster to Triple-A Toledo. Sweet was designated for assignment last week when the Tigers signed infield prospect Colt Keith to a six-year contract extension, meaning they had to place him on their 40-man roster. The 27-year-old has spent time with four organizations over the past four months as he has spent time with the Mariners, A's, Giants, and Tigers organizations. Sweet appeared in seven MLB games between the Mariners and A's last season but struggled to a 10.38 ERA in that time while surrendering four homers and six walks versus six strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings of work. He spent the bulk of the 2023 season at Double-A with Seattle, tossing a stout 1.54 ERA and big-time 28.7% K-BB% across 27 appearances.
