Despite Poor Finish, Todd Gilliland Has Big Day At Atlanta
10 months agoDespite leading a race-high 58 laps, Todd Gilliland finished 26th in Sunday's Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. In a race that was chaotic from the start, Gilliland was able to avoid much of the early race carnage until a multi-car accident with 20 laps to go took him out of the top 10. While the damage from this incident did not appear to have a significant impact on the No. 38 when viewing the race live, it was significant enough to send his Georgia Peanuts Ford Mustang to pit road for repairs on lap 243. After spending 80.9% of the race in the top 15, his 26th-place finish does not truly reflect what an outstanding day the second-generation Cup star had on Sunday. Although the result is disappointing, the 23-year-old certainly made a statement at Atlanta and will now be a driver to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
