Derrick Gore 2022 Outlook: The Kansas City Vulture Flies Back Into Obscurity
2 years agoLast season, the Kansas City Chiefs' backfield was in complete disarray, and Derrick Gore stepped up to be the lone bright spot when his number was called (no, he is not related to Frank Gore). He finished with three games of double-digit PPR points, including his Week 16 performance where he hauled in three passes for 61 yards. He also saw himself tied with some elite running backs in rushing efficiency, posting 3.2 yards after contact per attempt, which was tied with Nick Chubb, better than Derrick Henry, and just 0.1 yards lower than Jonathan Taylor and Javonte Williams (minimum 50 carries). The problem is that he is fourth on the depth chart behind Clyde Edwards-Helaire ("CEH"), Ronald Jones, and Jerick McKinnon, but he should be one of the names at the top of your waiver wire list because the three backs ahead of him are not exactly pictures of health. Gore is not worth a draft pick for the upcoming season, but keep his name in the back of your mind as a potential plug and play start if CEH or Jones misses any time.
