Derlin Figueroa Swinging Hot Bat
7 months agoKansas City Royals corner infield prospect Derlin Figueroa was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in last summer's Ryan Yarbrough trade. At the time of the trade, he was widely viewed as a long-term first baseman. However, he's spent more time at the hot corner than any other position so far in 2024. The 20-year-old has an advanced swing and is capable of producing plenty of power. He does have a slightly higher strikeout total due to his aggressive offensive style, but he's historically been capable of drawing a decent amount of walks, too. Last week, Figueroa went 11-for-24 (.458) with two homers, four RBI, three walks, and seven strikeouts. He also swiped two bases on four attempts. Don't be surprised if his bat carries him to High-A sooner rather than later.
