Denny Hamlin qualified nearly 3/4 of a second off the pace for the Kansas race on Sunday. That put him into 25th position. Hamlin is fortunate to have a 30-point cushion early in the playoff chase but has some solid results to fall back on at the intermediate track. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver has won twice in his last seven appearances with four top-five outcomes. That includes a fifth last Fall and a fourth this Spring in the Next-Gen car. The fourth was after beginning 18th in May. There is an expectation he can move up the standings in expedient order. By Stage 2 in the Spring, he was eighth and carried the second best speed over the final half of the race. Watch for Hamlin late. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
